How to choose a mousepad: size, surface and thickness
S, L or an XL that covers the whole desk? A guide based on 13 mousepads on Dona, with real prices from 43,200 to 259,000 UZS.

A mousepad is the last thing people think about, and then it becomes obvious: on a lacquered desk the sensor “gets lost”, the mouse scratches as it moves and your wrist rests hard on the wood. The Dona catalogue has 13 separate mousepads: the cheapest is 43,200 UZS, the most expensive 259,000 UZS. The choice depends on just three parameters: size, surface and thickness.
Size: how much room is on the desk#
The size is given in millimetres in brackets in the name, and the brand letters (S, L, XL) are shorthand for that number.
S (about 250x300 or 330x260 mm) — a small area for the mouse. For office work, carrying next to a laptop and a narrow desk. If you play at high sensitivity, your hand will slide off the pad.
L (450x400 mm) — a large area for the mouse, with the keyboard outside it. For gamers who make wide movements at low DPI.
Extended and XL (800x300, 400x900, 900x400 mm) — both the keyboard and the mouse sit on one pad. One flat surface on the desk: the keyboard does not slide and the desk does not get scratched. Measure the depth of your desk before ordering: a 400 mm deep pad hangs over the edge on many desks.
Surface: cloth or hard#
Almost all models in the catalogue have a cloth (fabric) surface. Cloth makes the mouse glide more slowly but is easier to control, so it is comfortable to stop the cursor on an exact point. A hard plastic surface gives fast, “slippery” movement, but wears down the mouse feet faster.
A cloth pad can be washed: warm water and soap, then lay it flat to dry. If you know this before buying, you will not be afraid of white and light-coloured models.
Thickness, stitching and lighting#
A thickness of 3-4 mm is the standard in the catalogue. 3 mm is enough for a flat desk; 4 mm is softer on the wrist and hides small unevenness on the desk.
Stitching on the edges (a sewn border) protects the part of the pad that wears out fastest. A stitched model lasts several years; the edge of an unstitched one frays after a year.
There are also RGB-lit versions. They draw power over USB, which means one USB port on the desk is taken. The lighting does not affect how the mouse moves; it is only for looks.

What you can see in a live stream#
A mousepad has two things a photo does not show: the real texture of the surface and the quality of the stitching on the edge. Ask the seller to lay the pad on a desk and move a mouse across it: does the surface scratch, do the edges curl up. A new pad stays curled when it comes out of the roll, so “how long until it lies flat?” is a fair question in the stream. Colour is also better seen on screen: the black in a photo often turns out to be dark grey in reality.
