Delivery address: pinning it on the map and notes for the courier
On Dona an address can be typed or pinned on a map. Here is how the default address, the landmark and courier notes actually work.
Where an order goes is decided by the address. On Dona you enter it once and pick it from a list on later orders. This article explains how to fill it in properly, and what to write so a courier finds you faster.
Two ways to add an address#
The “My addresses” screen has an “Add address” button. It opens the map first, and under the map there is an “Enter address manually” link — both paths start here.
The first is pinning it on the map. Move the map until the marker sits on your spot, or find the address through search. A locate icon on the map takes you straight back to where you are. Once the pin is set, the app works the address out itself, and you tap “Done”.
The second is typing it. You enter the district, the street and the house number. This form also has a “Pick on map” button, so the exact point can be added later.
The address form does not ask for a name or phone. Who the order is for is chosen at checkout, at the “Who is this order for?” step — usually that is you. The courier calls that recipient’s number.
If the app cannot read an address at the pin, or the spot is outside the delivery area, the “Done” button stays inactive. Move the pin slightly, find the address through search, or choose “Enter address manually”. If the map does not load at all, the app says so and offers manual entry instead. A map problem does not stop the order.
Landmark and courier notes#
The address form has an optional “Landmark” field. It is worth filling in: a short hint like “opposite the school” or “blue gate” saves the courier time.
There is also a separate “Delivery instructions” field for the courier. You can pick a ready-made one:
- Call before coming — the most common choice.
- Leave at the door — when you will not be home.
- Don’t call — when a child is asleep, or you are in a meeting.
- Leave with the guard — for office buildings and gated yards.
- Intercom code — the code goes here.
You can also write the same thing in your own words.

A default address, and several addresses#
You can keep more than one address: home, work, a relative’s place. In the list, each can be swiped left to make it the default or to delete it. At checkout the app first fills in the address you picked last, and falls back to the default if there is none. You can change it on any order, so glance at the address before you confirm.
That makes it easy to order to the office on weekdays and home at weekends without retyping anything.
Delivery coverage#
The app checks the pinned point against the delivery area. If the point is outside it, the app says so immediately and states where delivery currently runs. Usually that simply means the spot is not in the current coverage. But if you know you are inside the area and the message still appears, the app may not have been able to read the address at the pin: move the pin slightly, or find the address through search, and try again.
Read that message before saving the address: an order cannot be placed to an address outside coverage.
