Cash on delivery: how it works on Dona
When cash on delivery is available on Dona, where to see the amount, what to do when the courier arrives, and what happens if you decline the order at the door.
Many people prefer to pay for an online order only after they see the item. That is what cash on delivery is for: you place the order in the app and hand the money to the courier when the parcel arrives. Here is how it works on Dona, when it is available, and what to watch for when the courier comes.
When cash on delivery is available#
Cash on delivery is not offered on every order. Under Dona’s Payments and Refunds Policy it works only where it is offered for your order, your region and the seller. In general, which payment methods you get depends on the seller, the delivery region, the order value and the payment provider.
The methods available to you are shown on the checkout screen. If cash is not there, it is not offered for that order. Then pick another method shown there, for example Payme, Click or UzCard and Humo cards, if they are offered for that order.
How you know what to pay#
Before you confirm, the checkout screen shows the item price, the delivery fee and the total in Uzbek so’m. After you confirm, the order appears in your order history in the app. On a cash-on-delivery order, the payment card on the order page has a line called “Pay the courier” (on some older orders it is the “Total” line instead): that is the amount you hand over. If you used a discount, a coupon or coins, they show there as separate lines and the amount already takes them into account.
If your cart has items from several shops, note this: a separate order is created for each shop, and each one travels as its own parcel. Any delivery fee is worked out for each parcel separately. So each courier collects only the total of the order they bring. Check how much to prepare on each order’s page separately.
When the courier arrives#
For cash-on-delivery orders the delivery policy asks two things: have the exact amount ready and get confirmation of payment. The rest is the usual routine:
- Check the box first. Where the courier’s process allows, make sure the packaging is intact and the item matches your order.
- Then pay. The amount should match the “Pay the courier” line on that order’s page.
- Get confirmation. Keep proof that the payment was made.

Declining the order#
A cash-on-delivery order can usually be declined at the door. But if you have simply changed your mind, it is easier to cancel in the app before the order is dispatched than to wait for the courier. Once the seller has handed the order to a courier, cancelling is not always possible.
If you decline because of a problem with the item, such as damage or the wrong product, take photos and report it in the app or to [email protected] with your order number.
What to prepare in advance#
Prepare three things before the courier arrives and the hand-over takes a couple of minutes. First, the exact amount: check it on the order page in the app and have it ready in small notes. Second, your phone: the courier calls the recipient named in the order, so keep it on and close by. Third, if the order is going to someone else, tell them the amount in advance and agree who pays.
If you need a refund#
If you return the item later and a refund is due, for cash-on-delivery orders the money is returned in a suitable way agreed with you. The return terms are in the Payments and Refunds Policy.
Cash or card#
Both are official methods chosen at checkout and tied to the order. What matters is not to send money outside the order, for example to someone’s personal card in advance. Whatever method you use, the payment should be tied to the order.
